La patrulla infernal, fue la primera pelicula (no corto) del gran
Stanley Kubrick, prohibida inicialmente por Francia, Suiza, España, Marruecos y Canadá. Es una película catalogada como antibélica, aunque Kubrick dice que en verdad,
a lo más, es una película en contra de la guerra.
Paths of Glory está situada durante la primera guerra mundial, donde los franceses quieren ganar un puesto estratégico clave, "
el hormiguerro", para tener ventaja sobre los alemanes e impedir su paso. Lamentablemente la táctica para llevar acabo ese plan es casi suicida y las tropas encargadas no pudieron realizarla, por lo que el general Mireau, para dar un castigo ejemplar decide mandar a bombardear las trincheras de las tropas que no avanzan, y para colmo, mandar a matar completamente al azar unos 300 soldados bajo la acusación de cobardía. Claro, esta idea sacada de los diezmos romanos, se ve embargada por el comandante encargado de las tropas, en donde él decide llevar el caso a los tribunales superiores pues piensa que todo es una locura.
Si bien los acontecimientos están basados en una novela homónima, también están inspirados en un caso real situado en la misma Francia, donde la Décima Compañía del Batallón número 8 del Regimiento Mixto de
Tiradores Argelinos fue diezmada, el 15 de diciembre de 1914 en Zillebeke (Bélgica), por haber desobedecido la orden de atacar, lo cual hace que sea más entrete la película.
El hecho de que Stanley mostrara de forma descarnada la sucia realidad de la
guerra, en la que a menudo la muerte de seres humanos sirve para
satisfacer ambiciones personales y ascensos en la jerarquía de mando, convirtió a
Paths of Glory en una película extremadamente incómoda, pero dichosa de ver, que por cierto lo puso inmediatamente como director ejemplar.

zakazana przez Francję, Szwajcarię, Hiszpanię, Maroko i Kanadę. To jest film sklasyfikowany jako antywojenny, chociaż Kubrick powiedział, że jest to co najwyżej film przeciwko wojnie.
Ścieżki Chwały znajdują się w czasie 1. wojny światowej, gdzie Francuzi chcą
zdobyć kluczowe strategiczne stanowisko "Mrówczego Wzgórza", aby wykorzystać
