Drama-excelente.

Film directed and starring the unforgettable Adrien Brody, best known to all for his role as pianist in The Pianist (Daaah), and winner of the Academy. This film, which is a (very dramatic) drama, but a little psychological, has interesting photographic shots and scenes in the Stanley-Kubrickian style (you understand), and tells the story of a teacher, Henry, who always works as substitute teacher, because he does not like to be attached to people or his students, who enters a new school where everything is messed up. Students don't give a shit about teachers. The whole system is fucked up. The parents do not even care about their children. Well... it's not very far from the American reality...
Henry, at first, is shown as being in a session with a shrink (and continues like this until the end of the film), and while he is relieved with him, it shows the poor life that his school has. The good thing is that this is one of those amazing teachers that (hopefully) at least we have had one in our schools.
In short, this teacher, in his first class is challenged by a black arrogant and angry boy, a situation that let everyone as IHHH!!! But he knew how to handle it, and because of that, he won the whole class.
Henry is an English teacher, so he uses that humanistic and half philosophical side to be understood with the students and at the same time he shows them the bitchy life that is in this world, in this " Holocaust marketing ", and explain him self saying phrases like "to be happy, you have to be pretty"," to be pretty you have to be thin", etc.
In between, he meets a underage prostitute, which annoys him at first... But the teacher, in the end, instead of hiring her decides to take care of her, which causes that she finally fall in love with him, or at least see him in a more paternal way. In the end "all we need is love" (8) [at least that's what people say].
On the top of that, this teacher is so cool, that a student falls in love with you (in a sexual way)... She declared her love to him and everything (warlike).
The thing is that this girl, who is the typical fat classmate who has no friends and has a gift for arts, gives a drawing to Henry :3 (a fucking amazing drawing). However, this very responsible teacher knows he cannot do anything to her. To make matters worse, a colleague catches them just when she throws herself into his arms and the fool woman thinks that it's sexual harassment.
That's most part the plot, I will not continue to tell you more about it because I do not like spoiling. However, it must be said, that there is always a scene of the fat girl eating like a sow... (it reminds me of a friend of the U who was always eating, who, by the way, was the one who recommended me this film <3).
This film has an interesting style, which is very dark, always showing the bad and the rubbishy of life, but letting you see that there is light, however sometimes we simply oversee it because it is easier to continue in the darkness. In addition to this, the film is developed as a documentary, with scenes very vivid and crude, violent, rude, and the typical, you know...
The issue of education presented here is quite good. The development of the film is excellent. Perhaps, they put a little of everything, but finally the film manages to convince well the spectator. As a friend would say, it's "a feature that flies like a butterfly on the screen and it stings like a wasp in the brain."
Each scene is shown as a mental representation of each of us at certain instances of our lives, which makes this movie, worthy of watching in 100 min. (Approx.)
